Netflix and AMC Studios have formalized a co-production agreement, with Shane Black’s series Bannerman serving as the first project under the partnership. The deal signals a broader trend of streaming platforms and traditional cable studios sharing production costs and distribution rights rather than competing outright for content.
For working crew and producers, a Netflix/AMC Studios co-production means the project will likely draw on both companies’ vendor relationships, stage access, and crew rosters. Co-productions of this scale typically carry union agreements (SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, Teamsters) and tend to greenlight with stable budgets given two well-capitalized partners backing the slate.
Shane Black, known for writing and directing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Nice Guys, and Iron Man 3, is attached to Bannerman. No production location, shoot dates, or department head attachments have been announced yet.
The partnership structure itself is the bigger story for producers: expect more announcements of co-productions under this framework as both companies look to spread financial risk across a broader slate. Watch for location and crew announcements as the deal moves toward production.
