The Batman: Part II Deep Into Production at Warner Bros. Leavesden and Liverpool

Source: Screen Daily / Wikipedia

Matt Reeves’ long-awaited sequel to The Batman is well into principal photography in the UK, with filming centered at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and on location in London and Liverpool — with the latter standing in for Gotham City once again.

Production began in late May 2026 after an unusually thorough pre-production runway. Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin spent nearly three years completing the script, which was delivered to cast and crew in a physically locked pouch requiring a code to access — a measure taken to protect the film’s mystery-driven plot.

Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. New additions Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan round out an expanded ensemble. The film is set during winter, picking up after the flooding of Gotham City established at the end of the first film and its spinoff series The Penguin. Erik Messerschmidt steps in as cinematographer, replacing Greig Fraser who had other commitments.

The Batman: Part II is scheduled for theatrical release on October 1, 2027. For UK-based crew, the production is expected to keep London and Liverpool busy through the rest of 2026.
