Power: Origins Wrapping in New York and New Jersey After Summer-Long Shoot

Source: Project Casting

The Starz prequel series Power: Origins is finishing up a summer-long production run across New York City and New Jersey, with filming scheduled through July 2026. The show has been one of the region’s longest-running productions this summer, utilizing locations across Newark, Passaic, Hackensack, and Queens.

Power: Origins explores the early years of Ghost, Tommy, and Tasha — the characters that defined the original Power franchise — placing the new series in the neighborhoods and streets that established the show’s identity. Production has combined urban streets, residential neighborhoods, and commercial districts throughout the metro area to recreate that world with a younger cast.

New Jersey’s growing film infrastructure has been a key factor in the production’s footprint in the state. The Garden State has expanded its tax incentive program significantly in recent years, including an extended film incentive through 2049 and credits of up to 40% for in-state studio partners, making it an increasingly attractive alternative to New York proper for large-scale productions needing diverse urban locations.

For New York and New Jersey crew, Power: Origins has been a significant employer this summer. With filming wrapping in the coming weeks, the window to join the production is closing.
